Reunions

I just came back from my 25 year college reunion in Ann Arbor. It was an unofficial event organized by some friends. I guess a school this large isn't really going to have an official reunion. Nevertheless, about a hundred people attended. We all met up for dinner and drinks on Fri night, then some pre-gaming before the football game on Saturday, and then some meetups at dinner and the hotel bar at night. It was great to see everyone. While I regularly see my close friends, most of the people there this weekend I had not seen in over 20 years. Everyone was genuinely happy to see everyone else. It was just a fun time. The last 3 reunions I've been to, including my 20 year high school reunion and 100 year camp reunion (from the camp founding), have all gone the same way. I think as we all get older, we just look back on those times of our lives when things were easy and we just enjoyed our time and company. It's not to say that's not the case today, but obviously it's different when you have a job and kids. So seeing the people you shared that time with sparks those memories and just puts you in a good mood. And when everyone is in a good mood, it's a recipe for a really good time.
