New section on my site: Reader

In October ‘08 I switched from Bloglines to Google Reader and never looked back. It took some time, but I really grew to love Reader. It’s iPhone site is great - I use it most of the time compared to on the Mac.

Whenever I read a post that I like, I click the ‘Share’ button in Reader. I like using this — as opposed to sharing on Delicious or Twitter — because it is one simple step as opposed to adding tags or a bit of text. The ‘Share’ button just shares things inside of Reader with people that follow me there. The problem is that not everyone uses Reader. The good news though is that Google makes these shared items available as an ATOM feed. So I took that feed and used a little PHP to display my shared items on my site.

You can now visit http://www.dankantor.com/reader.php and see what posts I enjoyed reading. Out of all the ways I make myself public online (blogging, twittering, listening, etc) I think this could be the most interesting. What I read everyday shapes how I view the world. Now, that is public too.
