iTunes movies - no surround sound and not really...
Last night I rented Quantum of Solace from iTunes. It says it comes in two versions - HD for $4.99 and SD for $3.99. I rented the HD version, thinking I was getting HD video and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. I was wrong on both accounts.
The HD video is really just 1280x533 resolution. HD from a cable box is 1920x1080. That is a pretty big difference and pretty noticeable on my 46in LCD.

Concert Review: Starfucker at Mercury Lounge...
Last night Isabel and I went to see Starfucker at Mercury Lounge. I was really excited for this show. I had their album at number 5 on my Best of 2008 list.
The last time I was at Mercury Lounge I think I was 22. I didn’t realize they even had concerts there. I am not sure if it is a new thing, but they have a tiny back room with a small stage. It felt more like a frat house than a concert...

Jill Sobule album
If you have not heard, Jill Sobule released a new album this week. It is significant because it was completely financed by her fans. Techdirt has been covering this story for a while now. Dinosaur BBQ
Last night I ate at Dinosaur BBQ up in Harlem. It was my friend Mike’s 30th birthday (a surprise). I have to say that this was the best BBQ I have had in the city. The chicken wings were possibly the best I have ever had anywhere. The ribs were very good and the sides (including the coleslaw) were fabulous.
